The Cleo Rose Single Sofabed was designed
and later patented by Mimi Egnal, who created this unique product after
thoroughly researching the sleeper couch market. Her family had visited
several timeshare resorts locally and overseas, and with four adult children
of various ages and heights, some of them – usually her sons –
ended up on the couch. This was often an uncomfortable experience, with
not enough space and no privacy. After consulting with various timeshare
companies, she discovered the hospitality community faced similar problems.

Because she could not find a product that met her
criteria, Mimi designed her own single sofabed. With the encouragement
of Southern Sun, the largest hotel group in South Africa, the “Cleo
Rose” was born. After being tested in the Drakensberg Sun Lifestyle
Resort for nearly four months, including the end of year school holiday
period, the sofabeds were subsequently approved. They are still being
used in the resort today, many years later. The Cleo Rose and the Jenna
Jade can also be found in Bed and Breakfast establishments, as well as
in some of the best-known Gold Crown resorts in South Africa.
